What Does a Dog’s Bark Mean?

Barking DachshundWe’ve all heard it, probably billion or two times: a dog’s bark. In fact, we know it so well that some of us are pretty sure we can decipher what different kinds of barks mean. That loud, throaty one means “Look over here!” while the howling, mournful one means either “Come back!” or “Why aren’t you paying attention to me?” Meanwhile, a sharp, quick yelp is a sign of discomfort or pain, and any barking accompanied by impatient paws stepping back and forth probably means “Let’s go outside!”

Helping Your Dog Deal with Car Sickness

car sickJust like humans, dogs can get pretty bad car sickness. A result of motion sickness, car sickness occurs when a dog’s (or person’s) various senses receive crossed signals. For instance, when we sit in the back seat of a car, we’re consciously aware of the fact that the car is moving and our inner ears register movement, but our eyes may be sending different signals – especially if we’re wrapped up in a book on our lap. One of the best ways to handle motion sickness is to look at a point on the horizon and do your best to register the car’s movement with all your senses.

A Man and his Dog Reunite after a Decade Apart

ginger“I have the longest ears and the biggest heart of any dog you will ever meet!” read the description of a pet up for adoption on the website for an animal shelter in Nashua, N.H. “I am an older girl, but I still have a lot of spunk left.” The description wasn’t accompanied by a photo, but reading this brief doggy bio, Jamie Carpentier was reminded of a dog he’d once owned and hadn’t seen in 10 years. Unexpectedly, this very same 13-year-old Basset Hound named Ginger was that very dog.

According to local news station WMUR, Carpentier’s ex-wife had given up Ginger to the local animal shelter in 2003, shortly after their separation. March Madness – College Basketball’s Battle of the Bulldogs

March Madness DogsWith March heating up for college basketball, many will be glued to their televisions, computers, and phones to catch the exciting games of the college basketball tournament. Small-town teams will match up against storied programs in hopes of a Cinderella story and each game will surely leave you on the edge of your seat! Everyone has something to be excited for during these games – your favorite school, your favorite snack, and even your favorite mascot!

College schools have great mascots that feature some of our favorite animals and this year’s college basketball tournament is no exception.
